Overriding a ZIP Code

The Zip code override is used to override an existing ZIP code or ZIP+4. This is useful when the default ZIP code (jurisdiction) assignment of a ZIP code or ZIP+4 needs to be changed to an alternate location.

ClosedAdding a ZIP code Override

  1. Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides, click ZIP code and click or click in the upper right and select Override > ZIP code. The Add a ZIP Code Override dialog displays.
  2. Enter the ZIP code you want to override in the ZIP Code field.
  3. Enter the low and high Plus 4 numbers in the appropriate fields.
  4. Click Lookup beside the Override Geocode field. The Find Geocodes dialog displays.
  5. Select as many of the following items as you can. The more items you select, the more accurate the geocode will be.
    • Country (US or Canada)
    • State
    • County
    • City
    • District
  6. Click Search. The geocodes that match your selections display in the grid.
  7. Select the correct geocode from the results.
  8. Click Save & Go Back. The Find Geocodes dialog closes and the Override Geocode field is populated with the correct geocode.
  9. Select the dates for the Effective date and End date fields.
  10. Enter the Override reason. This is an optional field.
  11. Click Save.

ClosedEditing a ZIP code Override

  1. Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides.
  2. Click ZIP code.
  3. Scroll down, and select the state that contains the override you want to change. The dialog for that state appears.
  4. Click next to the override you want to change. The Edit a Zipcode Override dialog displays.
  5. Edit the Override geocode, End date, and Override reason, and information as required. All other fields are read-only.
  6. Click Save.

ClosedDeleting a ZIP code Override

  1. Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides.
  2. Click ZIP code.
  3. Scroll down, and select the state that contains the ZIP code override you want to delete. The dialog for that state appears.
  4. Click next to the ZIP code override to be deleted.
  5. Click Delete on the confirmation dialog.

ClosedExporting ZIP codes

To export ZIP codes, do the following:

  1. Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides.
  2. Click ZIP code.
  3. Scroll down and click.
  4. A CSV file is downloaded with the ZIP codes.
