Overriding a ZIP Code
The Zip code override is used to override an existing ZIP code or ZIP+4. This is useful when the default ZIP code (jurisdiction) assignment of a ZIP code or ZIP+4 needs to be changed to an alternate location.
To add a new ZIP code override, do the following:
- Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides, click ZIP code and click

in the upper right and select Override > ZIP code. The Add a ZIP Code Override dialog displays.
- Enter the ZIP code you want to override in the ZIP Code field.
- Enter the low and high Plus 4 numbers in the appropriate fields.
- Click Lookup beside the Override Geocode field. The Find Geocodes dialog displays.
- Select as many of the following items as you can. The more items you select, the more accurate the geocode will be.
- Country (US or Canada)
- State
- County
- City
- District
- Click Search. The geocodes that match your selections display in the grid.
- Select the correct geocode from the results.
- Click Save & Go Back. The Find Geocodes dialog closes and the Override Geocode field is populated with the correct geocode.
- Select the dates for the Effective date and End date fields.
- Enter the Override reason. This is an optional field.
- Click Save.
To edit a ZIP code override, do the following:
- Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides.
- Click ZIP code.
- Scroll down, and select the state that contains the override you want to change. The dialog for that state appears.
- Click
next to the override you want to change. The Edit a Zipcode Override dialog displays.
- Edit the Override geocode, End date, and Override reason, and information as required. All other fields are read-only.
- Click Save.
To delete a ZIP code override, do the following:
- Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides.
- Click ZIP code.
- Scroll down, and select the state that contains the ZIP code override you want to delete. The dialog for that state appears.
- Click
next to the ZIP code override to be deleted.
- Click Delete on the confirmation dialog.
To export ZIP codes, do the following:
- Select Menu > Overrides > Rule and Rate Overrides.
- Click ZIP code.
- Scroll down and click
.
- A CSV file is downloaded with the ZIP codes.
